Elevating a major sporting venue to international standard while keeping it fully operational is one of the more demanding challenges in construction project management — and the redevelopment of AMI Stadium was exactly that.

Project details

The project involved the demolition of three existing stands and construction of the new Eastern Stand, delivering 19,500 seats across upper and lower bowls, a dedicated corporate hospitality level and premium conference facilities. Works also included upgrades to the playing surface, turf and irrigation systems, completing a redevelopment that positions the venue for year-round use by its key sporting and events tenants.

The Deans Stand presented particular delivery challenges. Construction within a residential setting, alongside the requirement to maintain AMI Stadium as a fully operational venue throughout, demanded careful programme management, considered logistics and consistent attention to community impact. Events continued without interruption across the construction period — an outcome that reflects the level of planning required to make it possible.
