1 Market Street — Ground Plane Reposition

Situated at the threshold of Sydney’s CBD, retail core and Darling Harbour, 1 Market Street occupies one of the city’s most strategically positioned addresses — where business, retail and leisure converge. Investa engaged Forge to realise the full potential of that position through a comprehensive ground plane redevelopment of this 32-level, A-grade office building.

Project details

The scope was transformative: removal of the existing podium, a full façade redesign, and the creation of a new floor plate that added meaningful leasable area to the building’s offering. Additional lettable area was unlocked at both laneway and ground level internally, while lobby finishes were upgraded and revitalised to reflect the building’s repositioned identity. A new laneway canopy completed the works, providing weather protection and enhancing the pedestrian experience along the building’s boundary.

Forge managed the project from inception through to delivery — coordinating design, approvals, stakeholder engagement and construction management across a scope that required careful sequencing within a live, tenanted environment. The outcome is a ground plane that works harder for the building, its tenants and the precinct it sits within.
