Lyttelton Port of Christchurch (LPC) is the largest Port in the South Island, providing a vital link for international trade.  LPC is a crucial player in Canterbury’s economy.  It provides a gateway catering for a diverse range of services to exporters and importers, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including containers, marine services, and has facilities for loading and unloading bulk products such as petroleum, fertiliser, gypsum, cement, logs, coal, imported vehicles and fishing. LPC is vital to economic growth in the region.

Scope of the project included preparing a strategy and project managing the assessment and repair of critical assets to Lyttelton Port including; buildings, electrical reticulation, waste and storm water systems, coal processing plant and wharves and negotiating with stakeholders and insurers to form agreement.

Due to the critical role Lyttelton port plays in New Zealand’s economy, emergency works to enable key services to partially function remarkably occurred within two days of each major earthquake all long term remedial works needed to be carried out while functioning as an operational port.
